I Am Not Hot On The Idea

Some people seem to have groin-centric pleasure from eating raw fish …. they call it sushi.  I do not wish to criticize avid sushi eaters for their obsessions, but the idea of eating raw fish is repugnant to me.  I think it is similar to the idea of eating the unborn fetus of a sacred cow … or worse.  I believe the idea of eating sushi comes somewhere on the spectrum of human behavior where using both sides of toilet paper is considered normal.

Nevertheless, I do often have rapturous feelings when eating ordinarily cooked fish as long as the preparation exceeds the highest expectations of a gourmet chef.  My favorites are Cod and Tilapia.  I can do shrimp if they are ice-cold, fresh, detained and served with a piquant cocktail sauce.

I dearly adore the kind of fish and chips common to the diet in The United Kingdom.

I had a friend once who had the daily habit of consuming an entire can of Mackerel for breakfast.  My friend was on the autistic spectrum.

But, as I always say, “To each his own.”

  1. I don’t like sushi, John. I prefer all my food to be cooked in some way.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    • To each, according to their preferences, his or her own as they please. I condemn no one for their own tastes. I just cannot stand the idea of raw fish for myself.
