Are you looking for ways to make your blog better? If so, you’re in the right place. I have been at the blogging game for more than Twelve years now, first on Blogger and lately on WordPress.com. In that period of time I have learned a few things and I have unlearned a few things. In the time that I have been blogging, the entire concept of blogging has undergone some changes. What worked well a few years ago doesn’t always work so well today.
There is no doubt that blogging has become an essential part of online marketing but not everybody writes a blog to sell something. Some people write blogs because they love to write and want to express themselves. Other people write their blogs to share ideas and information with like-minded others. I am a casual blogger. I have nothing to sell. I just love to share my opinions about things with whoever might be interested. My blog is not big. It is small and it has a small but highly intelligent and loyal reader base. My blogging friends are who are important to me. My blogging friends lend light to my life.
The main idea behind writing a great blog is to do everything possible to make your blog as effective as you can possibly make it. It is not difficult. I can safely say that if you write and keep on writing .. always persevering and never quitting .. you will eventually acquire an audience of people who, for whatever the reason, enjoy the things that you write about. It takes time to build an audience so be patient. Just keep on writing your blog and I guarantee you that if you write it, someone will come along and read it. This may seem to be simplistic, but I can tell you from experience that it is true.
Here are some tips to help you improve your blogging and get more out of it.
1. Stick to a consistent schedule: Consistency is key when it comes to blogging. You should create a schedule and stick to it so that your readers know when to expect new content. This will also help you stay focused and organized.
You do not have to write a blog post every day but you do need some sort of schedule so that potential readers will get an idea of when to tune in to your efforts. Some people blog several times a day and some blog once a week. Just be dependable. When readers look for you, they want you to be there.
2. Use visuals: Visuals are an important part of blogging. Use images and videos to make your blog more engaging and help break up long blocks of text.
I want to take a minute to talk about using pictures on your blog.
You have to be careful where you find pictures and photos for your blog because of the danger involved with infringing someone’s copyrights. Copyright infringement can be an expensive proposition. So you need to find a source for images that you can feel comfortable using without infringing someone else’s work and possibly ending up in a lawsuit that can cost you big bucks.
There are whole websites devoted to offering pictures, illustrations, and photographs that they claim are free to use without the possibility of running afoul of copyright laws. One such website is called “Pixabay” and you can look at it by following the following link:
