Hysterical Historical Facts

The year was 1386 and the place was in France.

Have you ever heard of the bizarre story of the pig that was hanged in 1386 in France? Well, it’s true!

In 1386, a pig was hanged in the town of Autun, France for supposedly killing a child. This strange event has been recorded as one of the most hysterical historical facts from that time period.

The child was named Guillaume de Roussillon, and he was only five years old when he was tragically killed by a wild boar.

It is believed that this act was meant to show justice and send a message to other animals not to commit similar crimes. This event has made its way into history books and remains a popular topic among historians today.

Throughout history, humans have found ways to punish animals for their “crimes” in various countries. While it may seem absurd now, many animals have actually been sentenced to death by human courts for various offenses.

From a donkey accused of witchcraft in the 16th century to a bear sentenced to death for killing a child in the 19th century, the number of animals known to have been sentenced to death by human courts is surprisingly high.

About the donkey I mentioned above …In the 19th century, a donkey in France was sentenced to death for practicing witchcraft. This story is an example of the hysteria that surrounded witches and witchcraft during this period of time. It is an interesting tale that shows how superstition and fear can lead to strange outcomes.

Speaking of which, did you know that of the more than Two Thousand people sentenced to death for practicing witchcraft in the days of the Salem witch trials, all of those sentenced to death for the practice were hanged and not burned at the stake as popularly thought?

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2021/10/18/fact-check-witches-hanged-not-burned-american-colonies/8500616002/

A little aside here, if you please:

A couple of paragraphs ago, I wrote that early colonists in America killed people suspected of being in league with the devil by various and sundry methods because superstition and fear were extremely widespread.

When I hear that a mass of our early settlers was motivated by superstition and fear, I cannot help but think of our contemporary mess of right-wing radicals who adhere to conspiracy theories with the same dogged determination as if the conspiracies they love so much were Holy Scripture itself.

Today we know that superstition and fear are driven by pure ignorance and “Ignorance ” is defined as:

ignoranceĭg′nər-əns

noun

  1. The condition of being uneducated, unaware, or uninformed.
  2. The state of being ignorant; want of knowledge in general, or concerning some particular matter; the condition of not being cognizant, informed, or aware.
  3. The condition of being ignorant; is the lack of knowledge in general, or in relation to a particular subject; the state of being uneducated or uninformed.

Now you know.

Incarcerated Again

I woke up this morning to find that I have, once again, been thrown into “NextDoor” jail again — for about the third time in three years.

What is “Next Door?” — It is a site that apparently wishes it were Face Book — It is a site where people post notices about their lost dogs and cats, their disorderly neighbors, and their wayward brats.

Most of the people on that site act like total assholes (My opinion entirely) including myself because it is fun (To me, anyway) to vent and tell people what I think of them and their petty little problems.

The problem is there are worse assholes than me on that site and they never seem to be “Disciplined” by the moderators — moderators with seeming God-Like powers to discriminate as they please.

Here are some other people’s opinions about the site:

DISCRIMINATION! SEGREGATION!

This website Discriminates and Segregates! With countless attempts to find out why my account is disabled from responding or replying to any post outside my own neighborhood has gone ignored! They suspended my account once with no explanation!
I deleted my account finally!
Website is nothing but whiners anyway!

Date of experience: February 15, 2023

https://www.trustpilot.com/review/nextdoor.com

And, Yes, I will go back onto their site once my 4-day suspension is over because I am an old, cranky asshole and telling petty-assed snobs is a hobby that I absolutely enjoy — next best thing to sex as far as I am concerned.

The Ukraine Problem

OPINION

What Is Known:

The Ukraine problem has been a long-standing issue that has seen no resolution in sight. If Ukraine falls to Russia, the consequences could be a disaster of cataclysmic proportions for both countries and for the world. Russia would gain control of a large portion of Ukrainian territory if not the entire nation of Ukraine, while Ukraine would lose its independence and autonomy and once again be totally ruled by the oppressive and brutal Russian oligarchy.

There is also the very real possibility that if Ukraine falls, Russia would proceed with even more expansive ambitions in its quest to resurrect the old Soviet Empire. This has been suggested as Putin’s reason for his doggedness in his war with Ukraine.

Additionally, the risk of war between Russia and other countries could increase significantly. It is my opinion that Putin is hoping to conquer enough European territory and to subjugate enough European countries to resurrect the old Soviet Empire.

I believe that Putin is more than willing to sacrifice every living soul in contemporary Russia to achieve this objective. He has already proven some of what I am saying by sending hordes of his people into a huge war of attrition regardless of the fact that those being sent to the front are being mown down by withering Ukrainian fire by the hundreds if not by the thousands. That seems to me to illustrate just how serious Putin is toward achieving his ambitions for conquests, for expansion and for power.

It is important to understand the implications of such a situation in order to prevent it from happening. The problem right now is that many of the implications are now becoming more and more transparent and the way of keeping it from happening has not yet been fully realized by all the combatants and the various allied nations.

The Ukraine problem is a complex and long-standing issue that has been ongoing for many years. It has become increasingly dangerous in recent times with Russia’s annexation of Crimea and its military intervention in the eastern part of Ukraine.

If Russia were to completely defeat Ukraine, it would have a significant impact on the United States’ interests both domestically and internationally.

Domestically, it could lead to an increase in Russian influence in the region, as well as a decrease in American influence.

Internationally, it could mean an increase in Russian power and influence throughout Europe and beyond.

The United States must take steps to prevent such an outcome from occurring by continuing to support Ukraine politically, economically, and militarily. It is also important for the US to continue engaging with other countries in the region to ensure that they are not influenced by Russia’s actions or policies toward Ukraine.

The things that I have just reported on here are the very important reasons that the United States needs to keep up the most critically important support for Ukraine in Her desperate battle to remain free because if Ukraine falls, then the rest of Europe is in dire danger from continued Russian expansionism and people here in the United States who are advocating that we withdraw support for Ukraine are acting irresponsibly and trying to put all the rest of us in harm’s way.

Besides which, the way I understand it is that the most noise being made on behalf of withdrawing U.S. support from Ukraine is coming from Republicans and if that is the case then I can understand it because I am sure the Republicans would like to find ways to divert our financial support for Ukraine into their own already bloated pockets. That, in my opinion, is the nature of the right-wing beast.

That, I believe is one reason that some people with insight have dubbed some of the Republicans in power as “The Putin Party.”

Where are my two recently-acquired Trolls who should already be on here disputing everything I am saying and calling me wicked names? I am especially fond of the troll who tries to get on here and talk about my “KKK Leftist Regurgitations.” That one is especially nasty and he gives me libidinal feelings. But I think I scared him, her or it off with some of my personal private responses to him, her or it.

This Post Is Written With Some Assistance From Artificial Intelligence

There is a brewing argument in the world of writing about the advantages and disadvantages of using artificial intelligence to assist in producing written materials for reader consumption.

I have to admit that I also use AI to assist in producing some of my own blog posts here on Liming’s Lynkz for some of the following reasons:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an integral part of our lives and is now being used to help with writing blog posts.

AI can help writers save time, improve accuracy, and generate content ideas. AI can also be used to automate mundane tasks such as researching topics, finding relevant images, and formatting posts.

I find that I save hours and hours of research time whenever I am writing (When I engage the Ai’s assistance) and I also find out that I can find tons of relevant information that I might have overlooked when trying to write everything manually. This means that the AI can actually enrich the posts that I write — make them more informative.

By re-writing everything, I can provide the “Human” feel that would be missing if I just used the raw AI-generated materials all by themselves.

Using AI for writing blog posts has many advantages.

It can reduce the amount of time it takes to write a post by automating tedious tasks like research and formatting.

It can also help writers create more accurate content by using natural language processing (NLP) algorithms to detect errors in grammar and spelling.

Additionally, AI-powered tools can generate ideas for blog posts that are tailored to a specific audience or topic. .

AI can also be used for other tasks that are difficult to automate or write by hand. An AI bot could research a topic and generate a list of blog posts relevant to that topic. I hate to sound redundant (something at which I am pretty much an expert) but this could decrease the amount of time it takes to research a topic before starting a new blog post, and improve accuracy by automatically combining information from existing articles in the list.

AI is not being used just for writing blog posts – it’s also being used in publishing books, creating video games, writing medical reports, and automating office tasks.

I say to myself, why not use a little AI assistance? After all what would the world be without light bulbs, flushable toilets and automobiles? I believe we have to embrace the future and AI is definitely going to be a part of that future.

P.S. Even though I employ the assistance of an AI writer sometimes, I guarantee you that the end product is 100% my own brand of eccentric thought.

Tips On Writing Overshare Blogs

OPINION

Writing an overshare blog can be a great way to express yourself and share your thoughts with the world. It can also be a great way to connect with like-minded people and build relationships.

It is easy to wonder who would be interested in the mundane everyday details of another person’s life (Usually a stranger) and the question is valid, but I think there is a little tendency toward a certain degree of mental voyeurism in all of us — and thus the idea of “Oversharing on a blog.”

Overshare blogs are becoming increasingly popular as more people are turning to the internet for self-expression. Writing an overshare blog is not only about sharing your thoughts, but also about connecting with others who have similar experiences or interests. It’s a great way to create meaningful conversations and build relationships online.

Writing an overshare blog requires creativity, vulnerability, and courage. You need to be willing to open up and share your thoughts in order for it to be successful. With the right approach, you can create a powerful platform that will help you reach out to others and make meaningful connections.

Cons Of Oversharing

Writing overshares can be a double-edged sword. While it can be a great way to express yourself and connect with your readers, it can also have some serious drawbacks. Oversharing can lead to feelings of vulnerability, embarrassment, and even regret. It can also make you appear unprofessional or immature in your readers’ eyes. Additionally, writing overshares may lead to unwanted attention from strangers or even stalkers. Therefore, it is important to consider the potential disadvantages before deciding whether or not to write an overshare.

History of Overshare Blogging

The history of overshare blogging dates back to the early 2000s when bloggers started sharing their personal stories and experience online. This type of blogging was a way for people to express themselves and connect with others who shared similar interests.

Overshare blogging has become increasingly popular over the years, as more people have taken to writing about their lives on blogs and social media platforms. Bloggers have used this platform to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences with the world in an open and honest way.

This type of writing has allowed bloggers to create meaningful connections with readers by providing them with an insight into their lives that they wouldn’t otherwise get from traditional media outlets. It has also given readers a chance to relate to the blogger’s story in some way, which can be incredibly powerful.

Things To Avoid Sharing When Oversharing

There are some things that are better left undisclosed when you are writing an overshare blog.

I never share the real names of any of my friends, relatives or associates when writing overshares.

I never give out my bank’s name or anything else connected to my banking habits.

Here is a link to an article that contains precautions that I think are important for overshare writers to consider seriously:

It is YOUR blog so if you are writing overshares then maybe this post might be of some interest to you. Thank you for reading.

Sincerely yours,

John

Steps To Stopping Fake News In Its Tracks

We have all heard all the claims being made about “Fake News” these days — thank you Donald Trump — It seems like everything that ever irritated Donald Trump somehow earned the title, “Fake News” and his millions of adoring worshippers are still using his definitions to qualify whatever they choose to receive and to believe.

Of course, I have to say, right now, “There is life after Donald Trump.” (More than 70 million of our Trump-washed fellow Americans may not believe that, but all available evidence proves that there is life after Trump. (I am surprised that The Donald has not come out with “The Donald J. Trump Study Bible” so that his minions can have a new tool with which to conduct their worship services in His name. (Of course I cannot say factually that people do actually worship the former guy, but it sometimes feels to me like they do because I interpret their actions and their responses to be evidence of such a travesty. Now you have had a sample of how terribly biased I can be sometimes for which I never offer apologies.

But I am talking about “Bias” here so let me say, “The first thing you need to do when you are hearing something or reading something is to determine if whatever you are hearing or reading slants toward a particular viewpoint. Bias is something that comes forth from somebody’s views and opinions on things.

I think we can agree that there are media outlets (blogs, tv stations, radio stations, newspapers, magazines, etc., etc.,) that can be identified as either Conservative or Liberal in their biases. Both of these kinds of bias specialize in feeding their consumers information that agrees with what the consumer already believes to be truth. That is one of the reasons that a lot of people have difficulty entertaining ideas other than their own. These kinds of people tend to regard every idea that does not agree with their particular bias as either a lie or as fake news and is, therefore, not worth considering at all. These are the kinds of people who have a condition that I like to call, “Locked-In Thiinking.” They believe a certain thing and will never believe anything else unless they suffer some great mental trauma that shakes them back into consciousness.

Here is an article that describes the various kinds of bias and how they take hold in the human mind and affect everyone’s individual daily life experiences:

https://www.masterclass.com/articles/how-to-identify-bias

The danger with media bias is that such media may not be giving you the whole story. I would venture to say that Media of all kinds give their consumers only those parts of any story that the Media moguls feel will cement the loyalties (and the support) of their consumers.

What The People Are Saying

Here is one quote from an article that talks about why people mistrust the Main Street Media bias these days:

I know I think that because they show favoritism toward their preferred political party, whether it be democrat or republican.

https://www.quora.com/Why-do-60-of-Americans-think-that-MSM-is-not-credible?share=1

I think it all boils down to people getting used to the idea that the things they are hearing on their favorite news source might be telling them something that is either a little more or a little less than the absolute truth and getting those people to start investigating and questioning on their own —- One way to do this is to listen to both sides of an argument and then comparing how your own life is affected by what you have been believing.

This kind of effort will require people to leave their comfort zones for a while but if the truth can be distilled from the effort, then the effort will be more than worth while.

I have learned something over the years that a lot of people will never agree with. I am a Center-Of-The-Road Liberal when it comes to politics. But I have discovered that there are some Conservative ideas that are worth listening to and so I do not lock them out or ignore them when I feel they have something worthwhile to say. Even the craziest of them seem to me to make sense on limited occasions — very limited to be sure — but sometimes they do sound sensible.

I Heard It Loud And Clear

A couple of hours ago I changed my blog again to a theme from the 1990s and I asked readers what they thought of it. The response was overwhelmingly, “It does not work for me.” So here is another theme that I think will work better for everybody. I hope so, at least. Let me know, please— and I am done changing things — until the next time, that is. LOL. Thanks for your patience and your indulgences.

Mad Men Of The World

OPINION EDITORIAL

A few years ago — it seems like an eternity to me — we were hearing talk about Sadaam Hussein, the leader of Iraq, being a “Mad Man” and some people were wondering how they could make sure he was never able to attack the United States with the “Weapons Of Mass Destruction” that he was supposed to have had. — As it is now known, Hussein was finally “Removed” from the world stage in a most dramatic and final fashion. — There are, of course, a great number of powerful men in this world who might be considered as deranged and right now, I believe the main contender for that crown would be Russian President Putin.

And now that Putin has unleashed his gush of death and destruction on Ukraine and has been making veiled threats about using nuclear weapons against anyone who gets in his way, the case might be made that we have another “Mad Man” on the world stage who has the wherewithal to attack The United States with his “Weapons Of Mass Destruction” — and there is no doubt that Putin possesses those — unlike Hussein who never had any.

So if there are similarities in the situation between Hussein and Putin — both allegedly Mad, both being a potential threat to the safety and security of The United States and the world in general, why has not someone in a position of power decided to do a Hussein move on the new guy? I am not suggesting that something like that should happen; I am just asking why it does not seem to be in the works.

This whole war between Ukraine and Russia seems to me to be the weirdest thing I have ever witnessed. Missiles are exploding all over Ukraine and none are exploding in Russia. That does not seem to be fair to my way of thinking. I think that what is good for the goose is good for the gander — yet the gander in this case seems to me to be getting a free ride!

An Empire In Decline?

I am not going to say that I agree with everything in the following article, but I will say that I see enough critical truth in most of it to make the decision that it needs to be reblogged and read as widely as possible. This author has hit squarely on some of the worst challenges we face as a nation today and I think this article is well worth the reading. I think what has been said here needs to be seen and heard by all political parties …and by the general population who is being affected.

by Al Benson Jr.

Is the United States an empire in decline? Awhile back, Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana made the comment that “This nation was founded by geniuses but it’s being run by idiots.” Unfortunately, many of those idiots belong to the Council on Foreign Relations, and their main idiotic idea is to make the US just another cog in the wheel of One World Government–under the control of the United Nations.

The Treasury Secretary, another CFR member, claims she will punish China. Yeah, right! Biden says he will support Ukraine in their war with Russia “as long as it takes.” To do what? Bankrupt America? I noticed the US just handed Zelensky another $10 billion. It is sheer lunacy, seeing how much we’ve spent on Ukraine–$112 billion plus! Americans could have benefitted from some of that, but none of it was meant for American peons. If some of…
