Tips On How To Avoid Acid Reflux After Eating

First of all, read my medical disclaimer before reading another word of this post. My medical disclaimer can be found here

So what is acid reflux anyway?

Some experts tells us that Acid reflux is a condition in which stomach acid and other contents of the stomach flow back into the esophagus, causing a burning sensation in the chest and throat. Symptoms of acid reflux include heartburn, regurgitation, chest pain, bloating, difficulty swallowing, and a sour taste in the mouth. Additionally, acid reflux can cause dental erosion, respiratory problems, and an increased risk of esophageal cancer if left untreated.

I wouldn’t be bothered with writing this post if I myself did not often suffer from acid reflux attacks but I do and so I am sharing whatever I can find about it. I often worry that one of these attacks might choke me to death but I am not sure if that could happen or not. Here is something I read about it somewhere: While it is possible for acid reflux to be severe and cause life-threatening complications, it is not typically fatal. Aspiration of acid reflux, however, can be dangerous if the acid enters the lungs, as it can cause respiratory problems and even death.

So, regardless of what anyone says, I always feel grateful and lucky when I get through one of these things. I am sure that everybody who suffers from these things has a different reaction …but like I say in my medical disclaimer, I am no expert but I do know how I feel and what I fear.

So what are some of the tips that some people tell us are helpful to avoid this reflux problem in the first place? — or at least, to deal with it:

1. Avoid trigger foods: Common trigger foods for acid reflux include fatty or fried foods, spicy foods, citrus, garlic, tomatoes, and onions. I am in trouble from the get-go because I dearly love onions and garlic.

2. Eat smaller meals: Eating large meals can increase the risk of acid reflux. Eating smaller, more frequent meals can help reduce the risk of acid reflux. Yes, I do this but sometimes I do too much of it… if you know what I mean.

3. Avoid late-night eating: Eating close to bedtime can increase the risk of acid reflux. Avoid eating late at night and give yourself at least three hours to digest before lying down. I am guilty of laying down too soon after eating so in my case, I am asking for trouble. I am going to have to learn some self discipline.

4. Avoid alcohol and caffeine: Alcohol and caffeine can both relax the lower esophageal sphincter, which can increase the risk of acid reflux. — I do not smoke at all and I drink very rarely so this is not a problem for me.

5. Elevate your head: Keeping your head elevated can help reduce the risk of acid reflux. Place a few pillows under your head and shoulders to keep your head elevated while sleeping. I do this religiously and sometimes I wake up with a sore neck … but I will keep on doing it because I think it helps me to breathe better at night as well as helping with the reflux nightmare.

But do not depend on a single word that I have written here but make sure to discuss all this with your personal licensed and certified health care provider before you do anything new. The things that I have written here are just things that have come my way and I am sharing them for general interest.

America Needs To Reduce Tensions With China Over The Recent Surveilance Balloon Incident

Tensions between The United States and China have been growing for a long time now. These tensions have been evidenced by the increased threat to Taiwan’s independence coming from Beijing and by increasing threatening rhetoric and by military buildups in the affected areas, among other things. By now, the world should be pretty aware of the growing tensions between the West and China.

The recent incursion of a Chinese surveillance balloon into American airspace has done nothing to soothe those growing tensions but there might be some steps that could be taken to make the situation a lot less bad than it is now or that it might become.

For instance:

1. Apologies for the incident: The United States should publicly apologize for the outcome of the incident and should seek to enter some kind of agreement where the Chinese promise not to do any similar things in the future while offering the Chinese the same courtesy. A mutual agreement between the parties to eliminate any kind of mutual covert aerial spy operations. (“We won’t spy on you if you don’t spy on us.”)

2. Commit to transparency: The United States should commit to increased transparency in its military and surveillance activities in order to reduce tensions with China and should demand that China agree to the same thing.

3. Engage in dialogue: The United States should engage in dialogue with China to discuss the incident and explore ways to reduce tensions. Some kind of formal peace negotiations need to be happening right now so that tensions do not escalate to dangerous levels …I think a mutual non-aggression pact would be a good start.

4. Resolve trade disputes: The United States should work with China to resolve any ongoing trade disputes in order to reduce tensions.

5. Improve military relations: The United States should work to improve military-to-military relations with China by engaging in joint exercises and other forms of cooperation.

6. The United States should rethink the meaning of the “One China” policy and give up the idea of using our military power to engage China in a hot war if China should decide to exercise the option to take Taiwan back under Its wings.

And what is this “One China” Policy That America Subscribes To?

The “One China” policy is a policy that the United States subscribes to which acknowledges that there is only one China and that Taiwan is part of China.

Now if that is true, then I can’t help but wonder why president Biden would have taken it upon himself to more or less declare that America would go to war with China if China ever invades Taiwan. If the “One China” policy is true, then isn’t Taiwan already part of China and doesn’t China have the right to demand Her sovereign status over the island nation and doesn’t China have the right to enforce that sovereignty if she feels it is necessary to do so?

The policy was established in 1979 when the U.S. government recognized the People’s Republic of China (PRC) as the sole legal government of China, while maintaining unofficial relations with the Republic of China (ROC) on Taiwan.

Under this policy, the U.S. does not recognize any sovereignty over Taiwan, instead recognizing the PRC’s position that Taiwan is part of Chinese territory.

Has the United States now unilaterally decided that China has no right to enforce Taiwan being part of Chinese territory?

The U.S. maintains unofficial diplomatic ties with Taiwan and provides it with defense assistance, while refraining from any formal diplomatic recognition of Taiwan as an independent country. This policy is seen as a way to maintain peace and stability in the region while avoiding any potential conflict over Taiwan’s status.

The United States might be seen to be a way to maintain peace and stability in the area while avoiding any potential conflict over Taiwan’s status, but the recent jabber coming out of Washington seems to me to be in denial on that point and willing to go to military measures to prove some kind of point that looks to me like is out of touch with the reality of the situation.

I think the “One China” policy has to be adhered to or I believe it has to be re-written.

Biden has told somebody somewhere that the United States will never send troops onto Ukrainian soil during the current war there between Russia and Ukraine because, as he said, it would be the beginning of World War Three.

I want to know what the difference is between that statement and the one that Biden still has time to say; the statement that would say, “Hell No, we are not going to go to war if China invades Taiwan because that would be the start of World War III.”

Shotgun Blogging

This is John speaking and I have found the following article by Bettley Pete and it is so full of interesting, timely and relative information about blogging, I just cannot resist re-blogging it. Enjoy:

I have been perusing other blogs of late, and drawing some personal conclusions about the nature of many blogs, including my own. Some of my favourite blogs publish articles of great import, sparingly posted. They are usually sumptuously illustrated, or have accompanying photographs, generally of high quality. Although they do not appear that often, the response from their audience is always immediate, and in great numbers. These bloggers are at the high end of this pastime, the careful craftsmen in our blogging community. They have experimented, worked hard and meticulously, and achieved something enduring, with work to be proud of. I think of them as the Guild Bloggers, masters of the art.

Then there are the Niche Bloggers, predominantly photographers, poets, or writers of published works. They post only about their subject of interest. We might see something of their travels, or their personal developments in their chosen field, but…

Why Is There Racism In The World And Can Anything Ever Be Done To Eliminate It?

By Blog Author, John

Racism has been a persistent and pervasive problem in our world for centuries, and unfortunately, it is still very much a part of our society to this day.

So what is it that motivates and sustains racism?

The answer is complicated, as there are many factors at play here. One factor that motivates and sustains racism is fear. People may be afraid of those who are different from them, and so they may lash out against them in an attempt to protect themselves and their own interests.

Fear of the unknown can also lead to racism, as people may feel threatened by those who have different backgrounds and cultures. These feelings of fear can lead to prejudice and discrimination.

Another factor that motivates and sustains racism is ignorance. People who do not understand other cultures and backgrounds may rely on stereotypes and false assumptions to make judgments about them. This can lead to racism and the perpetuation of harmful stereotypes.

Another factor that motivates and sustains racism is power. Those who have power over others may use it to oppress and control those who are perceived as different or weaker. This can lead to racism, as those in power may use their positions to spread false information or to deny certain groups of people rights or opportunities.

Finally, racism can also be motivated and sustained by economic or social inequalities. Those who are economically or socially disadvantaged may face prejudice and discrimination due to their economic or social status. This can lead to racism, as those in power may try to maintain their power and privilege by denying opportunities to those who are seen as different or weaker.

All of these factors play a role in motivating and sustaining racism, and it is important to understand them in order to begin to address the problem. Racism is a complex and pervasive problem that has been with us for centuries, and it will take a concerted effort to begin to eradicate it. Education, awareness, and open dialogue are all important steps in the right direction.

And I believe that as l long as there are radicals in positions of political power anywhere in the world, there will never be an end to racism because if there were an end to racism, the dominant culture within any political paradigm would lose their dominant power.

I think that racism is a permanent part of the DNA of the human being and it cannot be legislated out nor excised by any political or psychological means.

I Don’t Know Much To Talk About Right Now

I am told that when we get writer’s block, we should just put our fingers to the keyboard and something will flow. It might not be something that is interesting to a lot of people but it will be something from deep inside the person doing the writing and whatever that is, it can sometimes be helpful, in some small way, to the person who reads it.

So I am sitting here, a living person, reaching out to the vastness of the Internet with these few words hoping that someone somewhere will find them, read them, and either benefits from them or receive help from them. The process is something like firing a shotgun into the darkness of the midnight sky hoping to hit something useful and see if anything falls to the ground.

I do know that there is some kind of strange energy that is shared by every living soul. It is kind of like a subconscious realization that we are all part of some larger family … a family that eventually includes all living beings …. the one family most relevant to us being the Human family of course.

I was thinking the other day about where we all come from … where we all originate from and the thought crossed my mind that we are all the product, somehow, through some as yet mysterious processes coming from the Sun, the Stars, the other planets and the winds of the solar system itself.

One thing I think that a lot of us forget sometimes is just how infinitesimally small we all are in comparison to the rest of creation and to the universe itself. Yet like a single cell in a completed being, we have sprung into existence from some force, some energy that created our molecular structure, our atomic structure, and whatever structures there are (Yet unexplored) that lie beneath the hierarchy of our components. I often wonder just how many layers of reality there really are to our being …I think it goes on forever, without limit and somewhere along the line, we become a working part in the great engine of combined energies and forces that we call the universe.

I know that Science says that Life is sustained by the energies coming from the Sun in the same fashion as everything else on the earth is sustained … by Sun Power … but I would take that thought a little further and say that we also are directly or indirectly impacted by planetary power too … power generated by all the other planetary bodies in the vastness of endless space. I would take it a step further even than that one and say that we are also dependent for our existence on starlight — star power –all the elements of the Universe conspiring together to make us and to sustain us through the entirety of our life cycle in whatever state we find ourselves.

I know from experience that if we dwell on this thing once in a while, we can expand our minds, increase our comprehension and center ourselves in the knowledge of who we really are so that we do not think too highly of ourselves or expect more of ourselves than we are designed to do … yet at the same time, expanding all our faculties so that, just like the Universe, we can expand our horizons in an exponential manner also.

State Of The Union Addresses Are Always Viewed With Skepticism. The One We Are About To Hear Will Be No Different.

The iconic State of The Union Address is almost here and there are already reports about the high degree of skepticism that many Americans will be receiving this presidential speech with. So I decided that before we are treated to the State of The Union message this time, I would explore some of the reasons that so many do view it with suspicion, cynicism or disbelief. So, here we go:

Every year, the President of the United States delivers the State of the Union address, a speech which is meant to be a reflection of the current state of the country. Unfortunately, many Americans view the State of the Union address with suspicion or cynicism, instead of seeing it as an opportunity for the President to outline his plans for the nation.

The primary reason for this skepticism is the lack of trust in the President and his administration. The 2016 election cycle was incredibly divisive, with many Americans feeling that their voices were not taken into account. This distrust has been further compounded by the President’s tendency to make bold promises and statements that often don’t come to fruition.

The reason this election cycle was so divisive included the fact that once the cycle was underway, more than 77 million Americans on the more radical spectrum of The Republican party immediately coalesced in their support of the bullish energy of Candidate Trump thus embracing their own reality, their own conspiracy theory-driven cocoon of comfort and release from some of their accumulated paranoia and left the Main Stream ideology that formerly had held the Nation together in one mostly-united body.

From healthcare reform to immigration policies, many Americans feel that the President has made promises that he can’t keep, creating a sense of distrust and cynicism.

Another factor that contributes to the cynicism is the fact that the State of the Union is often used as a political tool by the President. Instead of focusing on issues that are important to the American people, the President often uses the State of the Union address to score political points with his base, instead of outlining meaningful policy initiatives. This often leads to the feeling that the President is more interested in scoring political victories than actually improving the lives of Americans.

I am of the personal opinion that no president in History before Trump ever made the greatest use of every possible political talking point and mechanism to push his own image and to gloss over the greater needs of The People more than Trump was able to do.

A large mass of the American electorate ate this divisiveness up and embraced it with all the fervor at their command finally leading to the tragic events at the Capitol in Washington on January 6th, 2021, a date, as many say, that will live in Infamy.

Finally, it is important to note that the current political climate has made it difficult for the President to craft a meaningful State of the Union address.

With the nation increasingly divided along partisan lines, the President is often limited in the topics he can address. This often leads to a speech that is more focused on rhetoric than actual policy initiatives, which does little to address the nation’s major issues.

In conclusion, the State of the Union address is a tradition that should be viewed as an opportunity for the President to outline his vision for the nation. Unfortunately, many Americans view the address with suspicion or cynicism due to a lack of trust in the President, the perception that the address is used as a political tool, and the current political climate.

And I believe that I am safe in saying that none of this mess is going to get any better anytime soon because the parties are still biting and devouring each other when what is needed is some kind of willingness to work across the aisles. I believe that working across the aisles is a lost art in Washington and it will take a massive catastrophic incident or climactic event to come anywhere near bringing the two sides anywhere near together ever again.

I believe that the upcoming State of The Union speech will be viewed in Right Wing circles as an endless cacophony of false promises and lies about achievements already made and in Liberal Circles as a list of things that are desperately needed to move the nation forward but will be a list of things that will be dead on arrival when they fall into Republican hands.

Thus the hand that writes will write and will then move on and we will be no better off than we were before the speech was ever given.

Is The Chinese Surveillance Baloon Anything New?

Today, the United States military shot down a high-flying surveillance balloon over safe coastal waters and began salvage operations to recover it according to reports. This balloon had been drifting over certain sensitive areas of the U.S., for days and had been tracked by military operations. The sensitive areas reportedly included some American Nuclear sites in Montana. The Chinese government reportedly had claimed that the balloon was nothing but a weather balloon that had drifted off course, taking it over the Continental United States by accident.

What Is This Balloon Thing All About?

QUOTE: “…..U.S. officials first detected the balloon and its payload on January 28 when it entered U.S. airspace near the Aleutian Islands. The balloon traversed Alaska, Canada and re-entered U.S. airspace over Idaho. “President Biden asked the military to present options and on Wednesday President Biden gave his authorization to take down the Chinese surveillance balloon as soon as the mission could be accomplished without undue risk to us civilians under the balloon’s path,” said a senior defense official speaking on background. “Military commanders determined that there was undue risk of debris causing harm to civilians while the balloon was overland.” …” END QUOTE.

CITATION — The above quotation is taken from the following source:

Does China Have A History With Balloon Surveillance?

Yes, China has a long history of using balloons for military surveillance.

The use of balloons as a form of reconnaissance dates back as far as the Warring States period (475–221 BC) in ancient China.

During World War II, the Chinese military was known to employ balloon-borne cameras to observe Japanese targets. In more recent years, China has continued to use balloons for surveillance purposes.

In the 1990s, the Chinese military reportedly used large helium balloons to track the movements of American aircraft in the South China Sea. In 2020, the Chinese military reportedly tested a high-altitude airship for reconnaissance purposes.

Why A Balloon As Opposed To A Military Surveillance Plane?

1. Cost: Balloons are much cheaper to purchase and operate than airplanes.

2. Stealth: Balloons are much more difficult to detect than airplanes, allowing for covert military surveillance operations.

3. Weather: Balloons can stay in the air for much longer periods of time than airplanes, allowing for longer surveillance operations.

4. Flexibility: Balloons are much more maneuverable in the air than airplanes, allowing for more precise surveillance operations.

5. Environmentally-Friendly: Balloons are much more eco-friendly than airplanes, which require significant amounts of fuel and generate noise pollution.

What Are Some Retaliatory Actions China Might Take Because We Shot Their Balloon Down?

It is hard to say because relations are strained between the United States and China right now and, according to the analysts, those relations do not seem to be getting any better anytime soon.

But here is a short list of the things that I personally think the Chinese might do in retaliation for our shooting down their spy balloon:

1. Issue a diplomatic protest and demand an explanation.
I think this would be their first response — to protest and to play dumb and to show their indignation.

2. Launch a retaliatory strike against US assets.
I think this is less likely unless those assets might be something like attacking some low flying surveillance asset that the United States might have in operation in the Chinese skies.

3. Impose economic or trade sanctions against the US.
I am not sure China is in a position to issue economic or trade sanctions against the USA unless it would be in some wholly token or symbolic manner but one can never be sure.

4. Increase military presence in the region.
I think this would be a knee jerk action and would not be very impressive because they have been doing that already.

5. Increase surveillance in the region.
Now that their little balloon ploy has been exposed, I am thinking that their best scientific and military minds are probably scrambling to find other means and methods of doing surveillance on the activities and assets of the United States. I am thinking satellites. Satellites make the most sense to me.

6. Increase propaganda against the US.
There is no doubt in my mind that this is going to happen and is probably already happening even as I write this post.

7. Complain to the UN and other international organizations.
Playing the victim to gain sympathy from others around the world is common among bad actors who get caught with their pants down.

8. Launch cyber attacks against US assets.
I believe this is a possibility although I am thinking (and it is nothing but my opinion), that doing cyber attacks and even cyber spying is somoething they might possibly have been doing for a long time now.

9. Lobby other countries to support their position.
This, to my way of thinking, is a no brainer.

10. Cut off diplomatic relations with the US.
They might threaten it, but I am not personally convinced that they would actually do it.

It’s Me Again

I guess I managed to get out of bed this morning but I am sitting here thinking that I will get right back into it and stay there until time for lunch. It is colder than a witch’s tit here — thank goodness for a whole lot of good heavy blankets and a furnace that works and the money with which to pay the gas company.

Right now we are paying our utility bills alright … I guess we will keep on keeping on …we are somewhat better off than some folks but I am not bragging because I have been bankrupt before and I know what living in the street and sleeping under a Detroit bridge is like. Right now I am blessed with a great home, good friends and money in the bank and the good health … if not the good sense … to enjoy it all while I still can.

I keep thinking of poor old Cousin Jeanette. Jeanette is in the mid stages of Alzheimers and it is getting harder and harder to have a conversation with her, but she still does know who we are, at least.

Being stuck in the house because of the icy weather is causing me to eat more … I call it “Senseless” eating although it is more like recreational eating … food is a drug, you know… very addictive. I know that food is an addicting drug because I have tried to swear off it a few times and I can never seem to do it for very long.

I think it is a damned crying shame that obesity is a major killer in our society and our famous “World’s Best Medical System” isn’t smart enough to invent a vaccine or a pill that can control body weight without killing patients. They tell me that the obesity problem isn’t even discussed in Medical schools very much and it is always raging and is always at pandemic levels … but for some reason, the Medical Community seems to look the other way.

We have all been treated to the big Chinese balloon this week … and they have found another one circulating above Latin America … the size of that thing reminds me of the time when I was young, dumb, and full of cum and I went for a day trip to Cincinnati, Ohio.

While visiting the city, I took the elevator to the 48th floor of what was then the tallest building in the city and I went out onto the observation area … which was open .. which had rails around it to keep people from falling off …I went out on that observation deck and took a prophylactic (A sexual protection device something like a balloon) out of my pocket and blew it up just like a big balloon and released it over the edge of the observation deck and watched it fly slowly across the Ohio river.

I did a lot of ridiculous things back in those days. I have also done a lot of ridiculous things since those days. I guess we all have done ridiculous things if we just want to admit it. Human beings can be ridiculous creatures. We just seem to have gotten over the habit of throwing feces at people we don’t like … the monkeys still do such outrageous things …but we seem to have replaced the feces with nasty words and gestures. I guess that might be proof of evolutionary progress.

There is nothing more off-putting, in my mind, than to see a preacher, in a church, on a pulpit, wearing the tightest trousers that he can wear and sporting an obvious boner to thrill the ladies in the front rows of seats with — I can understand how these kinds of ministers can have such successful churches … I am sure they draw the big bucks in.

One of my earliest libidinal experiences was having a preacher in a Baptist church fondle my left leg as he was counseling me. That was my first experience with organized religion and it is also the reason I went to the evangelicals …who turned out to be a little better .. I guess we humans always have our little drawbacks, don’t we? I actually stopped going to the catholic church after 7 years because I could never get a glance from anyone in a church where fun times were reputed to be freely available and rampant.

I guess I have talked enough shit for this session.

See ya… please!

The Big Bad Chinese Baloon Is Watching Us … LOL

Innocent Surveillance? Secret Military Mission? Germs Aboard? Nuclear Weapon Aboard? Aliens From Outer Space Aboard? Something To Laugh About And Dismiss? Something To Worry And Lose Sleep About? Psychological Warfare? WTF Is It And Why Is It There?

It is supposed to be a high altitude weather surveillance balloon that strayed off course so that it could “Hover” high above some United States Nuclear-related sites in the state of Montana…. that is what the Chinese authorities are quoted to have been claiming about the aerial behemoth.

The whole thing reminds me of a motion picture that I might direct where some idiot tells someone else, “Pay No Attention To All Those Planes Approaching Pearl Harbor. It Is Nothing But A Harmless Training Mission.”

Pay No Attention To That Man Behind The Curtain…

Here is a quote that might shed a little light about what is going on with this thing:

A high-altitude surveillance balloon spotted over the U.S. mainland is a spy balloon launched by China, U.S. officials said Thursday, a day after the airborne vehicle was seen over Montana, home to some of the United States’ nuclear missile silos.

A senior U.S. defense official, speaking on the condition of anonymity in accordance with ground rules set by the Pentagon, said Washington had “very high confidence” that this was a Chinese balloon and stressed that the United States is taking measures aimed at preventing the vehicle from obtaining sensitive information….END QUOTE.

I am glad that the Pentagon is expressing “High Confidence” that this is a Chinese Baloon. Myself, I am wondering if it might be a Russian balloon checking out to see where we are storing the weapons we are sending to Ukraine….

What The Republicans Are Saying

The Republicans, of course, are peddling the tale that the very presence of this balloon over the United States is proof positive that the Biden administration is doing absolutely nothing to be a deterrent to China — and this is the position that I would expect the Republicans to take because, as we all know, the Republicans will grab at any straw they can find that they think can shed any kind of darkness on the Biden administration … makes them look like the “Big Boys” in the room, of you know what I mean … the same Republicans who I have always considered to be politically impotent …. “The Crazy Crowd” as I have called them on many occasions …the ones who always say that they have great plans for America but who can never seem to vocalize any details about those plans …because as I believe, they are winging their whole carnival sideshow from the wings as best they can … given the fact(A fact that is not really a fact per se but is a fact that I have created out of my frustrations with the right-wing radicals) the fact that I have made up out of an abundance of perception that none of the crazy crowd could find their own asses in a mirror and that isn’t the brainpower of half a human brain extant in the mass of them.) I am done venting now.

So now that I have vented all that, let me direct you to more information about how the Republicans and their lackluster leadership are treating this Chinese Baloon thing:

QUOTE FROM NBC NEWS —- “… By Rebecca Shabad and Julie Tsirkin

WASHINGTON — Top Republicans in Congress are demanding answers from the Biden administration over the suspected Chinese surveillance balloon that has been hovering over the northern U.S. over the past few days.

They lashed out directly at President Joe Biden, arguing that the incident demonstrates that U.S. posture and policies toward China are not deterring the communist nation. Many prominent Republicans also suggested the U.S. should have shot down the balloon….” END QUOTE.

In my opinion, this event seems to have taken most of the United States by something of a surprise — like a “Pearl Harbor” event only on a smaller scale … Here is some of the effect that the balloon has already had …

QUOTE FROM YAHOO SPORTS —– “…China’s foreign ministry has claimed it is a civilian balloon used for meteorological purposes, but U.S. politicians, many on the right, are already demanding President Joe Biden shoot it down….” END OF QUOTE.

The Chinese appear to have solved the mystery of who owns the balloon. Still, I am dubious of their claim that it is nothing more than a weather balloon on a mission to collect meteorological data from above the United States ….I am beginning to wonder if it might not also be silently spraying some kind of germs out of onboard vents …maybe a new gift that never stops giving… a gift like some kind of improved coronavirus …. or something … Yes, I know that sounds like a conspiracy theory and you can credit me for coming up with it, but I do not trust those scoundrels any farther than I could throw them and it gives me a kind of unclean feeling to know that damned thing is up there doing whatever it is doing.

OMG! Is there any possibility that this thing could be carrying an armed nuclear weapon? Has anybody asked that question yet?

The government of the United States has, reportedly, declined to shoot it down for fear of causing damage on the ground …when I hear that argument I wonder if there are any Ukrainian officials who are afraid to shoot down a Russian missile because they fear that by doing so they might endanger the safety of somebody on the ground …

What Do We Really Know About This Baloon?

Bloomberg offers an explanation — and here is a quote from them about it:

QUOTE FROM BLOOMBERG —– “…The Biden administration disclosed the balloon’s existence Thursday, saying it was spotted earlier the week and most recently seen floating more than 40,000 feet (12,000 meters) over Montana. The location is sensitive, since the state is home to the Air Force’s 341st Missile Wing and its Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles. While China’s foreign ministry said Friday that the nation has “no intention to violate other countries’ sovereignty and airspace,” a Defense Department spokesman said earlier the US had high confidence it belonged to the country, without explaining why. A spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry said later Friday that the balloon was civilian in nature, and used for meteorological and other scientific research. The ministry said it was an accident, and blamed westerly winds and the object’s lack of control for a “serious deviation” of the balloon’s path into the US…..”END QUOTE.

Maybe it is all a lot of fluff and ballyhoo about nothing at all … or maybe it is some kind of replay of “War of The Worlds”, a radio program from a long time ago where there was a Martian invasion of the United States … and, in fact, maybe this balloon did come from another planet after all … even though China has reportedly admitted that it belongs to them …cue up the music from “Twilight Zone.”

The question remains, “Is this thing friendly or not?”

Give It Up, America, Trump Is Never Going To Be Held Accountable For Anything

From The Masterful Mind Of John

We all know the allegations: “Trump led a deadly insurrection to overthrow the United States government.” That is the allegation. The reality is that no one has done a damned thing about it except to launch some investigations and give some information to the Department of Justice which has launched its own investigations.

How long have those “Investigations” been going on? The investigations have been going on ever since January 6, 2021 … more than two years now. And, as far as I can tell, they are still going on and my suspicion is that they will go on until 2024 because it took the government three years to complete the investigation of the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001 — and nobody still really is sure of what happened.

Government investigations seem to go on for a long time. I believe the reason for this is that the investigators want to cover all their bases and play all their cards or, God Forbid, somebody feels the need to squeeze the most mileage out of such reports because somebody is making a shitload of money because of them and they want to keep their golden goose alive as long as they can.

In the case of Trump and the alleged insurrection, which many on the right wing see only as a common day at the Capitol where some protesters became a little unruly and where no one carried guns and no one was injured — in spite of many testimonies to the contrary — In the case of Trump, I am thinking that the investigations are going to go on and on until the public forgets what happened or when the public has ceased to care.

Let me start by addressing the reasons that some people with a lot more sense and experience than myself believe that the former president cannot, In fact, be prosecuted for anything in regard to the so-called insurrection. The following is an explanatory quotation from “The Hill” that I believe touches very clearly cond concisely on the question of prosecuting Trump:

QUOTE … ” …Many analysts have suggested that President Trump ought to be criminally prosecuted for his part in the deadly events of January 6. It won’t happen. Courts, convicting defendants of murder, have declared that one who endangers others “for his diversion merely” manifests a “depraved mind, regardless of human life.” That may be Trump. But he would, as the saying goes, get off on a technicality….” END OF QUOTE

There seems to be ample reason to believe that prosecutors who could bring charges in the case of Trump might be dithering .. procrastinating … and some of those reasons are contained in an article I found on the MSN website and I am going to post a quote from that article right now …

QUOTE FROOM MSN ARTICLE ….”…Ultimately, the various prosecutors investigating the former president have done nothing to demotivate Trump and his supporters from continuing their assault on democracy. Those investigators, in various ways and to various degrees, seem to be  dithering in deciding whether or not to prosecute Trump and his top allies. Those investigations include: the Department of Justice team looking into Jan. 6, New York Attorney General Tish James’ civil probe of Trump’s business, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s criminal investigation of Trump’s business, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ criminal investigation of Trump’s efforts to subvert the election in Georgia, and Westchester District Attorney Mimi Rocah’s criminal investigation of the Trump Organization’s Westchester golf course….END OF QUOTE FROM MSN ARTICLE.

Is Justice Delayed Justice Denied?

That is what they say.

In order to get a better look at the possibilities (and maybe even the probabilities) of how this is all going to play out, let us take a look at something that I found on YAHOO NEWS that addresses the very question: Here is a quote from the Yahoo News Website article that I was reading:

QUOTE FROM A YAHOO NEWS ARTICLE BY ROBERT MOUNTS —-“…Now, after another year of interminable investigations at every level of government, without a grand jury being convened to consider charges against Trump directly and without an indictment on any charge, I am forced to contemplate the very real possibility that this will never happen, that the only slight measure of accountability, if at all, will be at the ballot box in 2022 and 2024. Justice delayed is justice denied….END OF QUOTE.

I believe that Trump will walk out of all this mess totally unscathed and a lot wiser and he may even become president again in 2024. I b believe also that as time goes on it will become easier and easier for elected officials to do the same things that former President Trump has been accused of and that someday in the future one or more of them will actually pull off a successful insurrection.

Only time will tell.
